SITUATION
The woodland lies in an accessible part of North Devon, on the eastern side of the A377 a short distance south of Fortescue Cross and opposite Kings Nympton Railway Station.

The town of Chulmleigh lies 2.4 miles to the south and the market town of South Molton is 9 miles north of the woodland. Barnstaple lies 15 miles to the north-west.

DESCRIPTION
The woodland totals approximately 0.89 acres (0.36 hectares) and currently forms part of a larger wood known as Saddler's Close Wood. The trees are mostly native deciduous species including oak, beech and holly and the woodland slopes very steeply up to a more level area which adjoins the eastern boundary.

Near to the western boundary with the A377 is an enclosed former water storage tank of concrete construction.

DIRECTIONS
From South Molton proceed out of the town on South Street and then the B3226 towards Chulmleigh. Continue on this road until reaching the junction with the A377 at Fortescue Cross. Turn left and the woodland will be found on the left after a short distance, opposite the entrance to Kings Nympton Railway Station.
