Wadebridge

A guide to Wadebridge and the surrounding area

The bustling estuary town of Wadebridge offers the perfect base from which to discover the natural beauty of Cornwall and North Cornwall. Visitors to the town can enjoy riverside walks, unique shopping, leisure facilities and of course the nationally recognised Camel Cycle Trail. The Camel Trail links Bodmin, Wadebridge and the picturesque town of Padstow and offers 18 miles of traffic free walking and cycling along a route which follows the Camel Estuary.

The town is the gateway to the beautiful scenery and stunning beaches of Rock, Daymer and Polzeath. Also easily accessed from Wadebridge is the magnificent Seven Bays a set of seven beautiful and contrasting beaches running south from Padstow to Porthcothan Bay, and linked by the South West Coastal Path. The area also enjoys a rich and diverse culinary scene with several Michelin Star chefs including, Paul Ainsworth and Nathan Outlaw. Their restaurants benefit from an abundance of wonderful local ingredients in an area that has a long association with both land and sea.

Wadebridge is the venue for some of North Cornwall's major events. Find out what rural life is all about at the action packed Royal Cornwall Show. Held every June there's something for all the family. The town comes alive to the sound of music every August Bank Holiday as it hosts the internationally acclaimed Wadebridge Folk Festival and the towns folk take to the water in homemade rafts for the Camel River Festival. As winter draws near its Bike Lights, a magical night time procession of brightly lit bikes, prams, tricycles and tandems. At Christmas the town is illuminated with light and decorations and the New Year is heralded in with fireworks from the river bank.
