The busy town of Barnstaple is well placed for access both to the renowned sandy surfing beaches at Croyde, Putsborough, Saunton and Woolacombe, as well as Exmoor National Park, with its wonderful scenery and breathtaking walks. The town also offers some excellent bars and restaurants, big name high street shopping, independent boutique shops and many good local food producers.

Historic Barnstaple dates back 1000 years and is a hub for great retail therapy. For nature lovers, see the puffins on Lundy Island or visit the Exmoor National Park to discover the most stunning views. The harbour, beaches and attractions in Ilfracombe have been attracting holiday makers in their droves since the Victorian era. There are so many places to visit in Devon - North Devon towns, areas in North Devon, North Devon coast - make sure you don't miss any.

There are excellent transport links to North Devon, with the A361 North Devon Link Road at Barnstaple, which connects through to Junction 27 of the M5, where Tiverton Parkway Railway Station can also be found, which provides a rail link to London (Paddington) in just over 2 hours. Barnstaple railhead also provides a link to the national railway system. Exeter City, with its international airport is about 64 miles from Barnstaple. Alternatively, Bristol Airport can be reached in about 1 ½ hours travelling time from Barnstaple.
