125 reasons landlords need to be in the know

According to a recent article in Letting Agent Today, there are now more than 125 pieces of legislation and regulations that landlords must adhere to when letting a property.

This research suggests that of these 125 laws, over 80 have been introduced since 1990, a sure sign of the times. With an increasing awareness of health and safety measures, customer redress and financial transparency, it is unsurprising that this number has grown in recent years in a sector that now represents 20% of households.

Commenting on the article, Andrew Luxton MRICS FARLA of Stags Lettings department highlights the importance of landlords ensuring they remain compliant and are kept up-to-date with the ever-changing requirements of being a landlord. "As part of our service to our landlord clients, we issue regular updates about any changes and implement them as required. These laws not only affect landlords but tenants as well, so it is crucial that both parties are well-informed," Andrew states.
