Record numbers at recent Farm Buildings to Dwellings seminar!

Stags have recently held three very successful evening seminars focusing on the recent changes to the Permitted Development Rights allowing the conversion of agricultural buildings to dwellings, which proved a very popular topic.

Stags were delighted to join forces with Hodgsons Accountants and Coodes Solicitors for the Launceston and Truro Seminars and Simpkin Edwards Accountants and Peter, Peter and Wright Solicitors for the Holsworthy Seminar.

Nicola Palfrey of Stags explained the changes to the planning legislation and what needs to be considered in a prior notification application, whilst Jo Maynard, Head of Stags Professional Services in Cornwall, related it to a case study and discussed the practical implications to the farming business of converting a building.

Ben Stephens, Partner of Stags, commented “the Launceston Seminar was the largest Stags have held throughout the year exceeding 140 in attendance! Clearly the three firms are well respected to pull such record crowds. Farmers and landowners certainly benefited from having two local rural surveyors, an accountant and solicitor discussing the rights and their implications.”

David Robinson, Manager of Stags Launceston office, highlighted “the seminars were a vital source of information for clients; past, present and for the future, who have all now achieved a better understanding of the opportunities the legislation allows in its current format.”

An excellent seminar, all topics were interesting and helpful” (Farmer, Truro Seminar).

Another sale success at the Honiton Showground

Stags On Site Sales Department are delighted to report on another extremely successful sale of Agricultural Machinery, Automobilia, Collector’s Items and General Effects, which was held at the Honiton Showground on Saturday 23rd August.

This is the fifth collective sale that Stags have held on the Showground site and each sale has proven to be more successful than the last with the latest providing an entry of over 1,300 lots with the top price being £17,400 for a Massey Ferguson 4355 4WD Tractor c/w Quicke 340 Loader. Other notable machinery prices included £2400 for a 1999 Kuhn GF8501 MH Digidrive 6 Star Tedder; £2100 for a 24ft Livestock Trailer; £1650 for a Marshall Silage Trailer; and £1600 for a Major Offset Topper. There was also strong demand throughout the day for the smaller lots especially the garden and horticultural items.

The Honiton show field site provides excellent facilities with hard track ways, easy access, plenty of parking, on site facilities and is ideally located enabling the development and growth of sales in the future. It is Stags’ intention to hold at least two significant collective sales, one in the spring and one in the autumn, with proposals to develop specialist sections.

Whilst having a sale on site is still the preferred option for many, there are a large number of people who wish to only dispose of a few items. A collective auction gives them this opportunity, as well as the benefit of extensive advertising, marketing and the high number of buyers that a sale of this kind attracts.

In addition, a sale of this type attracts interest from not only those with agricultural items, but those connected with the garage and motor trade, builders, small holders and equestrian owners as well as private households.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of either holding a sale on site, or entries for one of Stags numerous collective auctions, please contact Stags On Site Sales on 01884 255533.
