Wiltshire Game Farm Dispersal catches nationwide attention

Wiltshire Game Farm Dispersal catches nationwide attention

With a continued busy Spring, the Stags On Site and Online Sales team are pleased to report another successful auction on behalf of a game rearing company based in Wiltshire. It is now the eighth game rearing dispersal the firm have conducted in its past 10 years. The value of the buyer database and accrued knowledge of the game rearing items in the sale made it successful. Being further afield from our usual area of business, this sale did not fail to catch a captive audience from across the whole of the United Kingdom. The complete dispersal sale of vehicles, game rearing and shooting related equipment commencing on the 4th of March was offered through our increasingly popular online timed auctions before concluding on the 14th March. After many weeks of advertisement, the statistics perfectly illustrate the triumph of the dispersal: managing to attract 824 bidders who registered to the sale, along with 302 individuals taking part in the bidding and 74 being successful. In addition, there were 21,463 views at the online sales catalogue and, despite not all being successful, there was £240,390 of bids placed! The 74 successful bidders were based across the country from locations including Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxford, Hampshire, Monmouthshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bristol, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Bath, Warwickshire, Sussex, Wales, Somerset and Kent!

The top price reached during the auction was the iconic 2008 2.4L Land Rover Defender 130 TD5 with 94,274 miles on the clock and MOT until July 2022. Despite having dents and scratches to the body work, the ever-popular vehicle did not fail to reach £18,000 to a purchaser from Dorset. The second-best price reached was another vehicle, being one of the Toyota Hilux’s offered in the sale. After the continued difficulty to get brand new vehicles at this moment in time, the demand for the Hilux was popular among bidders and finally went under the hammer for a great price of £16,000 to a gentleman in Gloucstershire. Not far behind, was the other pick-up, a 2017 Toyota Hilux 2.4L Single Cab Pick Up truck. Gaining 34 bids, the vehicle was sold for £13,750. Coming away from vehicles, the next best price reached in the auction was the infrared security system. After being serviced not long ago in November and being a triple beam system, bidding was keen and attracted 51 bids from the online crowd. After a lot of anticipation, the hammer finally went down at the price of £8,000 to a buyer from Oxfordshire.

Other notable prices reached in the auction included the two 2018 32T Collinson Bulk Feed Bins. Both in good condition and having capacities of 49m cubed, the two feed bins managed to grab 103 bids from the online audience! Finally, both bins were sold for a magnificent price of £7,250 each to buyers from Devon and Dorset. Another popular item in the auction, being essential to the game rearing sector, was the numerous metal rearing sheds and night shelters. With 12 in total being offered, varying in size but in decent condition, all sheds were sold! Prices reached for the sheds varied with the top price being £2,600 and the bottom price being £1,800. On average, the most common price paid for these was between £2,300 and £2,500.

With the Spring season settling in as time progresses, the sales diary seems to be filling up for the upcoming months. April is kicking off with the third sale of the year at our West Country Sales Centre in Willand which is due to take place on Saturday 9th April. Shortly after is another popular online timed auction, this time being the South West Easter Online Timed auction, commencing on Thursday 14th April and then closing on Sunday 24th April. The Stags team is looking forward to a continued busy month and season and are hopeful for more successful sales!
