Top South West Equestrian Competition Venues The South West is home to a thriving equestrian scene, with a strong network of competition venues supporting riders across eventing, show jumping, dressage and showing. From international horse trials to local training clinics, these venues play an important role in the region’s equestrian calendar. 
 

Bicton Arena, Devon 

Widely regarded as one of the premier equestrian facilities in the South West, Bicton Arena is among the few venues in the region to host top-level competition alongside unaffiliated events. Disciplines include: 
  • Eventing (up to CIC4*) 
  • Show Jumping  
  • Dressage  
Bicton is home to the annual International Horse Trials and also hosts British Showjumping HOYS (Horse of the Year Show) qualifiers and British Dressage Regional Championships. 
 

Pontispool Equine Sports & Holidays, Somerset 

Set against the backdrop of the Blackdown Hills, Pontispool is a well-known venue with an extensive cross-country course and established training facilities. It regularly hosts British Eventing (BE), qualifiers and unaffiliated events, while also being popular for arena and course hire. The venue is particularly recognised across the West Country for its adult horse camps, covering both eventing and show jumping, which are open to riders aged 18 and over.

The venue also hosts regular affiliated competitions throughout the year. 
 

The Grange Equestrian Centre, Devon 

With all-weather surfaces and both indoor and outdoor arenas, The Grange hosts affiliated and unaffiliated events across:

  • Showing  
It is also a popular choice for clinics and arena hire. 
 

Chard Equestrian 

Chard is a popular competition venue, supporting a broad range of disciplines including:

It regularly hosts British Showjumping qualifiers on its modern surface arenas, alongside arena hire and clinics.
