"For our first year conducting this sale alongside the West Bay Vintage & Steam Rally, we are pleased to report a brilliant day of trading. We want to thank all vendors, buyers, and the West Dorset Vintage Tractor & Stationary Engine Club for their continued support.
A substantial entry of over 1,000 lots arrived on site, predominantly on Friday, with a number of late additions joining the line-up on Saturday morning. This represented an increase of several hundred lots compared to the previous year. The excellent entry attracted a busy field of bidders and resulted in strong prices achieved throughout the day.
The top price of the sale was achieved by a late entry, the 1991 Clayton & Shuttleworth Steam Lorry, which sold for £8,750 despite no prior advertising. It has now found a new home with a steam enthusiast. Another notable late arrival, the 1938 Austin 7 Tractor, also sold well, achieving £5,000. Amongst the tractors, strong interest was seen for the Massey Ferguson 165 2WD, consigned from a local farm that recognised the event as an ideal marketplace. Keen bidding saw this tractor sell for £4,250, despite no registration or V5C being present. In the vehicles section, a late-entered Suzuki Vitara V6 2L petrol with 111,412 miles on the clock sold for £1,500. Top price in the trailers category was achieved by a small Ifor Williams box trailer, which made a healthy £1,550 despite showing signs of age and wear.
The sale saw particularly strong demand for steam and heritage collectables, along with tractor spares and parts. Vintage and rustic ornaments, as well as repurposed planters, also proved highly popular, with many exceeding vendors’ expectations.
Overall, this was an excellent event with fantastic support throughout, and we look forward to building on this success in the years to come."
