Stags Auctions: Successfully selling assets across the South West

The first half of 2025 has been a successful and exciting time within the Stags Auctions team. We have had a wide variety of sales, ranging from machinery & agricultural equipment to wine, paintings, woodworking equipment & antiquities of interest.

This year to date, the Auctions Department has:

  • Had 42 successful and varied dispersal/reduction sales
  • Sold over 14,000 lots (up 27% YOY)
  • Sold nearly £5,000,000 worth of assets (up 66% YOY)
  • Reached 19,796 registered Stags bidders
  • Had buyers from Romania, France, the Republic of Ireland, Poland, Northern Ireland, and across the UK.

The Stags Auctions team has executed almost the same number of sales in the first 6 months of 2025 as they did throughout the whole of 2024, with a good amount of sales still in the pipeline.

Our Fodder & Livestock Auctions have also seen tremendous growth this year, consigning more stock into one auction than in any previous year.

Our online auctions offer a convenient and accessible platform to buy and sell assets, which results in strong sales prices, these are highlighted below.

South West Online Timed Collective Auctions of Tractors, Vehicles & Diggers, Farm Machinery, Livestock and General Equipment:

  • 5 held so far this year
  • Top 3 prices of:
    • £75,250 for a JCB Fastrac 4WD Tractor in June
    • £66,750 for a 2020 Case Puma 240 4WD Tractor in January
    • £65,750 for a 2019 John Deere 6215R 4WD Tractor in March
  • An average entry of 1900 lots per sale
  • 1,531,784 views amassed across the online catalogues
  • 2381 bidders to each sale, on average
  • Over £1,000,000 worth of lots sold in the first two sales of the year

South West Fodder & Livestock Online Timed Auctions:

  • 5 held so far this year with new records being broken on entries sale after sale
  • Top prices of:
    • £3,750 for a British Blue Pedigree Breeding Bull in January
    • £710 per head for two 7-year-old Irish Jenny Donkeys in April
    • £450 per head for five Boer Breeding Does in May
  • An average entry of 229 lots of fodder, feedstuffs, and livestock per sale
  • 174,341 views amassed across the online catalogues
  • 400 bidders to each sale, on average

The team continues to provide dispersal sales by Public Auction, accompanied by real-time online bidding and online timed auction. A number of these sales have taken place so far, selling assets from oil paintings to plant and nursery stock. The top auctions have been:

The East Nymph dispersal on behalf of Mr RA Endacott of Spreyton, Crediton, which achieved:

  • Top prices of:
    • £26,550 for a 2013 Zetor Forterra 135
    • £24,750 for a 2005 McCormick MTX 120
    • £19,250 for a rare and mostly original 1976 Ford County 1164
  • The sale resulted in 9,335 visits to the catalogue in 48 hours and had 277 registered bidders

The Dispersal sale held on behalf of the late comedian Jethro’s family in Lewdown, Cornwall. This sale gained national coverage due to its nature and attracted high levels of publicity. This sale saw strong prices such as:

  • £30,750 for Jethro’s iconic ‘J35 TER’ number plate
  • £26,750 for a 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser
  • £16,750 for a 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser
  • £6,500 for a 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser (S/R)
  • £20,750 for a 2002 New Holland TL100 4WD Tractor

The reduction sale on behalf of Cotswold Organics included almost 400 lots. This sale was located in Eastleach, Cirencester, showing that distance is no challenge for the team. Prices included:

  • £42,250 for a 2017 John Deere 6215R 4WD Tractor
  •  £32,250 for a 2001 John Deere 6910 4WD Tractor
  • £9,250 for a Prattley Mobile Sheep Handling System

With many other auctions already completed, 2025 has started strong. More sales have already been announced including a dispersal sale of vehicles, nursery, tea room café equipment and large quantity of plants and shrubs in Ashburton in August, a full dispersal of Vehicles, Farm, Equestrian, Garden & Café Equipment in Polson, Launceston in September, and a clearance of shrubs, plants & trees in Axminster in September.
