Successful spring sale at Willand

Crowds gathered to Willand on Saturday 9th April for the collective spring sale at the popular site. Nearly 200 buyers registered for on-site bidding and over 220 online purchasers registered an interest. 690 lots were offered with a clearance rate of just over 89%, subsequently leaving vendors prosperous and happy. Over 8,500 viewed the online catalogue, with an average of 56 bidders active throughout the sale, peaking at 89 bidders for the larger lots. 70 vendors entered a wide variety of lots to be offered for sale, with entries from Minehead, Hereford, Newton Abbot, Chepstow and Radstock.

The sale generated a great deal of interest, with a top price of £2100 for a 14’ Ifor Williams flatbed trailer in excellent condition, which was purchased by a gentleman in Dorset. A Logic TRM 150 Topper was fiercely competed for and found its new home in Tiverton for a pleasing £1750. Another flatbed trailer, this time a 16’, made an impressive £1700. Another notable price was for a Yamaha Ultramatic 450cc Quad, which sold for £1250 to a new purchaser. A 2WD David Brown 880 achieved £1100 and stayed local in Dulverton. Next was a 1986 Honda Big 4X 350TRX Quad, which was in immaculate condition for its age, and more than doubled its reserve selling to £1050. Finding its new home in Hereford was a Browns Log chopper for £800. A portable Western Trailers water container achieved a staggering £520 and headed for Cullompton, whilst a 7ft Howard Selectatilth Rotavator made £500.

Once the 280 outdoor lots had sold, the indoor auction began, with 410 lots being offered for sale. Top prices included an unusual Biggs Tobacco enamel sign, which caused a stir and achieved £170. The chainsaws topped at £150 for a neat Husqvarna 120, and then to £130 for another. Lawnmowers up to £300 for a Lawnflite 603 Ride on, and then to £200 for a Honda UM616. Some of the more niche lots such as a beautiful table with inlaid horse carvings made £85, with a Massey Ferguson weather vane to £60.

We are now welcoming entries for the next sale on Saturday 21st May. Entry forms can be found online, with intake days on Friday 13th May (9am-5pm), Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th May (9am-5pm), and Thursday 19th May (9am-4pm).
