Successful sale for Stags Auctioneers at Sharpham Park

Successful sale for Stags Auctioneers at Sharpham Park

Stags Auctioneers were very pleased to be instructed to sell the complete flour mill on behalf of Sharpham Park recently.  The flour mill, installed on the picturesque Sharpham Park Estate in 2007, has been making organic spelt flour at the site up until 1st November 2023. The mill’s owner, Roger Saul, founder of the fashion brand Mulberry, took the decision to close the mill due to downsizing at Sharpham Park and focussing on future endeavours, which includes the production of organic walnuts.  The sale of the well-maintained mill was conducted through Stags’ online timed auction with the results exceeding the owner’s expectations.

Mr Saul commented ‘Stags did an excellent and professional job in a timely manner, so big thanks to Chris and the team.’

The sale of a flour mill was very niche and our auctioneers managed to contact all the flour mills in the country prior to the auction taking place.  This resulted in a good number of flour mills registering to bid, including two from Ireland and one from Denmark, with buyers coming from Scotland, Salisbury, Wiltshire and Devon.

The auction saw a 100% clearance with over £62,000 of bids placed (not all successful) with the top lot, the packing facility, going on to sell for £25,500.
