Strong Demand for Quality Land

Strong Demand for Quality Land

The latest auction of property held by Stags on Thursday 30th July in Honiton saw that there is still strong demand for land in East Devon.

To a packed room at the Heathfield Inn in Honiton, Stags auctioneer Andrew Luxton, had 2 land lots available.

The largest lot offered was nearly 24 acres of productive land running down to the River Wolf in the Parish of Awliscombe not far from Honiton. Offered to the market with a guide of £200,000 - £250,000, interest from a number of farmers and business people in the area quickly raised the bidding eventually reaching £308,000, equivalent to nearly £13,000 per acre.

Kevin Clarke, manager of Stags Honiton, was delighted commenting ‘This was a good quality parcel of land, with the result exceeding our expectations.’

Two smaller fields set off the A3052 at Salcombe Regis just outside of Sidmouth were also offered, marketed at a guide price of £35,000 - £40,000 the bidding finally finished at £44,000.

George Alder of Stags Farm Agency for East and South Devon was very pleased. ‘The result clearly shows that for some land lots, auction is the best method of sale. I am delighted for all our vendors, for whom we have maximised returns. I am sure that this is a good sign for the autumn land market in 2015’.
