Colleagues from Stags' Barnstaple and Bideford offices, alongside members of the Marketing Department, recently visited the RNLI's Appledore Lifeboat Station to gain a greater understanding of the charity's lifesaving work and the impact of the funds being raised throughout the year. The visit builds on Stags' commitment to supporting the RNLI as its chosen charity for 2026.
During the evening, the team met members of the volunteer crew, learned how the station operates, and heard first-hand about the dedication required to provide a 24-hour search and rescue service for those in need at sea. The visit also offered valuable insight into how donations directly support the RNLI's work, helping to fund essential training, equipment, lifeboats and lifesaving services.
Situated in North Devon, Appledore Lifeboat Station is the oldest active RNLI station in the South West, having received its first commissioned lifeboat, The Volunteer, in 1825. Today, the station operates both an All-Weather Lifeboat (ALB) and an Inshore Lifeboat (ILB), enabling crews to respond to a wide variety of incidents around the North Devon coastline.
With many Stags offices covering coastal communities across the South West, the visit was a timely reminder of the vital role the RNLI plays in keeping people safe in our waters. The team left with a greater appreciation of the commitment shown by the volunteers who give their time to protect others.
As Stags continues its year-long support of the RNLI, colleagues across the business remain committed to raising funds and awareness for a charity that provides an invaluable service to coastal communities throughout the region.
