Stags Farm Agency launch exceptional historic farm to the market

It is not often that farms like Huish Barton are available to purchase in the West Country, and Stags Farm Agency are very pleased to be handling this sale on behalf of their clients.

The farm is superbly located, approximately four miles from the Somerset coast and within the fringes of the Exmoor National Park, whilst boasting very good road links nearby with the A39 and A358 providing an easy route to Taunton and the M5 motorway.

Huish Barton totals approximately 316.9 acres (128.25 hectares) and, whilst it is within the National Park, the land is all classified as either grade 2 or grade 3 and has good road frontage.

The stunning Grade II Listed house provides 8,250 square feet of accommodation and dates from the 16th and 17th century, with the older part including a 40-ft grand hall which boasts a fireplace at either end and overlooks the walled garden to the West.

There are well-proportioned rooms, high ceilings and sash windows throughout the ground and first floors, with a total of ten bedrooms and three main reception rooms.

There is a tree-lined entrance drive with grass areas and ponds to the side. The colourful and well-tended gardens include a level lawn to the front of the house, flanked by mature shrub and flower beds; an outdoor swimming pool with a patio and outdoor bar area; soft fruit cages and raised beds and the original walled garden from where the afternoon and evening sun can be enjoyed.

There is an impressive collection of stone, brick and slate barns with their own separate access from the road, including some which are three storeys tall and have original brick arches on the ground floor.

Further along the lane and beyond the traditional barns are the more modern farm buildings which are presently used for grain and machinery storage and livestock housing, positioned around a concrete yard.

The land is all classified as either grade 2 or 3 with the more productive land used for growing cereal crops and further areas of pasture used for grazing. In addition, there are pockets of woodland throughout the farm which forms part of a local shoot.

The guide price is available upon application. To discuss Huish Barton in greater detail please contact Stags Farm Agency on 01392 680059 or email farms@stags.uk.
