Stags has acquired the Totnes firm of sales, lettings, rural professional and commercial agents, Michelmore Hughes.
“I am delighted to confirm that we have purchased the historic and well-regarded firm of Michelmore Hughes which was established in 1815,” said Stags partner Alex Rew.
All 14 Michelmore Hughes staff will join Stags when the merger officially takes place on 1 June 2018.
The estate agency and residential lettings side of the Michelmore Hughes business will move to the Stags Totnes office, which is managed by Associate Partner James Baker, pictured above left. The rural professional and commercial property aspects of Michelmore Hughes will remain at the firm’s current address in Totnes town centre, operating under the brand Michelmore Hughes Stags.
“Michelmore Hughes shares the same ethos as Stags,” said Alex Rew, who heads up the Stags Professional Services department. “We aim to combine a modern, professional service with traditional values of honesty and integrity. We believe that by combining these two businesses there will be advantages for both firms’ clients, both existing and future.”
Matthew Higgs, partner at Michelmore Hughes, will become Head of Commercial Property Management at Stags. He will develop the department in association with Stags’ nearby offices including Exeter and Plymouth.
“Matthew and his team focus on the management of commercial buildings, for local and absentee landlords, and strive to offer the highest level of service for these important and valuable assets. They also are experts in residential block management,” said Alex Rew.
The Rural Estate Management team at Michelmore Hughes includes Nick Millard, Paul Wiseman, Jonathan Aylett, Tim Yonge and Chris Lee. “This team will continue to offer an excellent service to their clients in their usual diligent manner but will now have access to additional support functions and personnel from the wider network of Stags,” said Alex Rew.
