Stags acquires established lettings business to expand management portfolio

Stags is delighted to announce the successful acquisition of Beacon Lee and Ward in Wellington, a long-established lettings firm operating in Somerset and Mid/East Devon. Established and managed by Jonathan Drew, the company has built a strong reputation throughout the area. With Jonathan’s decision to retire and spend more quality time with his wife Ruth and family, Stags is pleased to take the business forward while expanding its own portfolio.

The professionalism, client care, and values upheld by Beacon Lee and Ward align perfectly with Stags' commitment to excellence across its network of 22 regional offices. The acquisition complements our existing presence in the region, particularly our well-established offices in Wellington, Taunton, Tiverton, and Honiton.

We are also pleased to confirm the retention of Beacon Lee and Ward’s experienced staff, ensuring continuity of service for all existing landlords and tenants. Furthermore, Jonathan Drew will remain as a consultant during the transition period and beyond as needed. As a result, the majority of communication channels and points of contact will remain unchanged. While we will continue to operate from the Mantle Street office in Wellington initially, we plan to relocate operations to our existing office on the High Street in the near future.

Andrew Luxton, Senior Partner and Head of the Residential Lettings Department at Stags, further confirms:

“After months of negotiation and preparation, we are delighted to finalise this acquisition. It significantly strengthens our managed and let-only portfolio, reinforcing our position as one of the leading letting agents in the area. As a business, we continuously seek opportunities to acquire high-quality lettings portfolios and firms. With ongoing challenges in the private rental sector and ever-evolving legislation, we are committed to advising our landlord clients and ensuring their investments are well protected.”

The transition is being overseen by Claire Pile MARLA, Associate Partner, Lettings Training and Development Manager, who will work closely with the team to ensure a smooth integration.
