Prices at Willand not to be dismissed, even with the winds from Storm Eunice!

A pleasing appearance of 150 people braved the elements on Saturday 19th of February for the second sale of the year at The West Country Sales Centre, Willand. Over 550 lots were up for sale, once again being offered both in person at the sales centre as well as online to the 190 registered and approved bidders who watched the sale from the comfort of their homes. Once again, vendors saw pleasing results achieved, with a clearance rate of 88% across the board; somewhat impressive for a collective auction. The sales catalogue was viewed over 7,500 times online, with an average of 50 active bidders watching the sale at any one time during the live seven-hour selling period. In total, 57 vendors consigned lots to the sale from as far as Wells, Gloucester and Hereford with purchasers making the journey all the way from Pontyclun, Wales and Helston in South Cornwall to collect items that were purchased online.

The top price achieved on the day was for a 2008 Rolland V2-140 dung spreader which sold for £6,000, with the second-best price being a very well-maintained 1961 Fordson Dexta tractor which was removed from a holding near Rackenford, Tiverton. The tractor generated plenty of interest on social media and sold well to achieve a price of £4,700, finding a new home in North Devon near West Down. Accompanying the tractor was a Perfect T-225 2.25m pasture topper from the same good home which sold well to a price of £800. Other tractors achieved £4,400, this time for a Ford 5000 Row Crop tractor consigned from a local farmer near Cullompton whilst a Marshall MB10 silage trailer complete with silage sides sold to £3,200. In fact, trailers seemed to be in abundance on the day with a 2003 Bateson 9’ livestock trailer complete with wooden decks reaching £1,700; an 8’ x 4’ twin-axle plant trailer selling to £1,450 and an Indespension 8’ x 4’ flatbed trailer achieving £1,300.

With the completion of the sale items in the yard first, attention then moved in to the sale centre building whereby 400 more lots were offered. A pair of bronze effect lions attracted much interested and sold away to £325 with the second price achieved being £280 for a Draper 746 gas MRG welder. Other notable prices included £260 for a Stihl KM1114 multi tool complete with strimmer and hedge cutter attachments whilst a local building firm sold their best items to £250 for a Wadkin Bursgreen planer thicknesser.

Attention now turns to the third sale of the year at the West Country Sales Centre which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 9th April. If you have any items you wish to sell please do not hesitate to contact one of the team on 01769 572042
