New Year update on the West Country property market

New Year update on the West Country property market Simon Cooper, Senior Partner of Stags, is pleased to report on the continuing strength of the West Country property market for the end of 2019 and start of 2020.

The best December for Stags in a number of years, property sales were up by 16% compared to the previous year. Completed sales were also up by 7% across the West Country, with many agents reporting a busy month, despite the seasonal period and General Election.

With the General Election out of the way and further mandate given to the Government, 2020 is looking bright, with a record number of buyers registered to move from both within the South West and further afield.

Looking back at the whole of 2019, viewings of Stags’ properties were up by 9% on 2018 and properties for sale attracted an incredible 570 viewings every week of the year. The number of completed sales was also 4% higher for the calendar year which, comparing to the industry norm, seems to be ahead of other parts of the UK where the general consensus is that fewer properties were sold in 2019 than 2018.

Another positive stat from Stags is that the number of visits to stags.co.uk was up by 7% on the previous year.

Considering that 2020 seems to be starting in a very positive vein, we have announced that we will be holding an exhibition of West Country properties at The London Office in St James’s Place on 17 March. If you would like to have your West Country home listed at this event, please contact your nearest Stags office as soon as possible so that we have plenty of time to get your property ready for display to London and Home Counties buyers.
