Green Homes Grant applications now being submitted

As part of the Governments drive to improve energy efficiency of Let homes they introduced the Green Homes Grant at the end of last year.

The provides an ideal opportunity for landlords to apply for vouchers from a £2 billion fund in order to cover two thirds of the cost of hiring trades people to upgrade the energy performance of their homes, up to a maximum contribution of £5,000.

Claire Pile MARLA of Stags confirms that landlords can apply for the grants on the GOV.UK website. Applicants will be asked some basic questions about their home followed by recommendations on eligible improvements, including information on local suppliers. Once a supplier has provided a quote and the work has been approved, a voucher will be issued via email. The voucher covers labour, materials and VAT.

All work needs to be carried out by a TrustMark- registered installer who is also registered for the scheme.

If you are applying, you do require a valid EPC rating of E or above or proof of an exemption.
