Grant Funding Update – What’s Available for Farmers?

As grant schemes continue to evolve, staying informed about the latest funding opportunities is essential. Charlotte Turner, Chartered Surveyor & Registered Valuer, has provided a snapshot of some of the key schemes currently available (as at 7th August 2026):

Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) 2026
The SFI scheme for 2026 opens in two application windows. Window 1 opened on the 30th June, and will close no later than the 28th August 2026.

Window 2 is expected to open in September 2026 and will be available to all eligible farmers and land managers. Those with existing ELM revenue agreements ending on or before 28 February 2027 will now also be eligible to apply.

Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT)
The CSHT scheme is no longer invitation only. Later this summer, farmers and land managers will be able to begin the application process by submitting an Expression of Interest for agroforestry, woodland, and new single-focus agreements.

Capital Grants
At the time of writing, the Capital Grant scheme remains open, but with around 75% of funding allocated within the first 48 hours. However, by the publication of this article, it is more than likely to have closed. We are anticipating that the Capital Grant scheme will be opening again next year.

Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF)
DEFRA plans to reform the scheme for 2027 by simplifying the application process and targeting funding more effectively. Further details, including application dates, have not yet been published.
