First dispersal of the new year blows away vendor's expectations

First dispersal of the new year blows away vendor's expectations

After a successful first collective sale of the new year, next on the agenda was the dispersal sale of two tractors, two Land Rovers, a modern, extensive range of superbly kept machinery as well as multiple trailers and a large range of gates and cattle equipment located in Ilfracombe, near North Devon on behalf of Mr Wayne Copp. A typical sale that would have once drawn a wide crowd to the sale field for an on-site dispersal sale, Mr Copp this time opted to use the online timed auction system instead with limited parking spaces. After receiving the instruction, the Auctioneers and staff worked hard to organise the lots offered for sale in a turnover of just three weeks between the first day of sale preparation until the close of the sale on the Sunday evening on the 13th February, which saw great rewards with the prices achieved.

The stand out 2004 John Deere 6420S Tractor was always going to be a sale highlight, described by prospective purchasers as being ‘exceptionally tidy for its age’, the vendor was delighted to see it sell away to £31,000. Second best price achieved was for the increasingly popular Land Rover Defender 90 County, with just 54,000 miles on the clock and selling well at £24,000. The same vendor also sold a very well-maintained 1998 Land Rover Wolf Defender with a full MOT and 70,500kms on the clock for £16,250. The second tractor offered for sale being a charming 1987 John Deere 2450 2WD Power Synchron model looked well sold at £13,250, finding a new home near Taunton, Somerset.

Machinery prices topped at £12,750 for a 2018 Claas Liner 2600 twin rotor rake showing very little signs of wear. Next best prices saw £9,750 reached on two separate occasions, the first for the 2018 Teagle Tomahawk 8100 trailed straw chopper which headed to Devizes, Wiltshire and the second for the 2006 Claas Rollant 255 roto cut round baler, selling locally to a farmer from Mid Devon. Other notable prices included the 2018 Claas Volto 800 tedder which went under the virtual hammer for £7,750 and a 2015 McHale 991LB bale wrapper which reached £5,250. In the trailer section a 2020 Marshall BC26 bale trailer, having had very little use, flew away to £8,250 whilst the 2019 M4 8T dump trailer reached £7,500.

Whilst fodder appears to be in abundance this year after last year’s harvest, it was pleasing to see the 414 bales of 2021 organic round bale hay offered in this sale average a total £19.85 per bale.

Attention now turns to the next collective sale of the year commencing on the 3rd of March, with a game rearing dispersal sale located near Maiden Bradley scheduled to take place next month also.
