Farms and land: Quarter market update

Farms and land: Quarter market update

The South West farms and land market remains strong, with demand still outstripping supply.

What’s happened so far this year?

In January and February alone, we launched six new farm and land lots to the market, all of which were sale agreed within a month of going live, having either sold by private treaty or auction. A notable sale was 17.59 acres of land in Grampound, Truro, selling for 31.5% above the guide price. This increase shows there is still buyer confidence despite inflation pressure on agricultural inputs and raises in the Bank of England’s base rates.

Another notable sale so far this year has been Wheatcroft Farm near Cullompton, offered to the market as a whole and in six lots. We received a great deal of interest from farming, investor and lifestyle buyers and, after a month of marketing, we agreed a sale of the farm to two parties above the guide price of £2,695,000.

We continue to have lots of people enquiring about new farm and land lots coming to the market. This shows interest is still there, alongside pent-up demand from the previous year due to the lack of supply.
