A total of 550 lots of machinery, implements and general equipment sold to a big crowd of buyers at Bolitho Farm, Liskeard Stags auctioneers report.

Topping the day at £5,200 was a 1982 Massey Ferguson 590 2WD Tractor complete with loader. Vintage Tractors sold to £1,750 for a 1954 Ferguson T20 Tractor; followed at £1,300 for a 1965 Massey Ferguson Industrial Tractor complete with loader.

Farm machinery topped at £1,000 for a Nugent Shear Grab; followed at £800 for a Twose 6.3m Folding Cambridge Rollers. Trailers sold to £700 for an old Ifor Williams LT85G Flatbed. Other lots included £325 for a Bateman Cattle Crush; £310 for a 4’6” Dung Grab; and 8 15’ Cattle Feed Barriers made £145 each.

On the Sheep side 450 Sheep comprising of Breeding Ewes, Ewe Lambs, Store Lambs and Breeding Rams sold to a more resistant trade than that seen at the first sale earlier in the year. Breeding Ewes topped at £119 for 2 pens of North Country Mules from Mr R Sizmur, Okehampton. Older Suffolk Mule Ewes topped at £85 for the same vendor. Ewe Lambs topped at £92 for a pen of 10 classy Mule Ewe Lambs with other continental bred ewe lambs achieving £81 and £80 three times for A & S Tamblyn, Liskeard.

Good competition was seen for Store Lambs with many buyers leaving with empty trailers, top price of the day was £67 for Mr G Barrett of Saltash who also sold Hampshire Lambs to £55.

Lots of small “running” lambs looked well sold on the day with numerous pens in the high 40’s and low 50’s.

Rams met a buoyant trade with Vendors keen to sell and buyers aware that the weeks available to source their rams are running out. Charolais 2T Rams topped at £290 twice for Mr N Dalgarno, Truro with Texels topping at £250 for Mrs G Renfree, Liskeard.
