Dream of owning your own lake?

Dream of owning your own lake?

Do you dream of owning your own expanse of water to camp beside, build your own nature reserve around or simply mess about on boats on? This fantastic lake for sale in Crafthole, Cornwall could be the perfect opportunity to realise that dream.

Whether you choose to buy it on your own or club together with friends or family, make your way to The Whitsand Bay Hotel, Portwrinkle, at 6pm on Tuesday August 8th where this wonderful lake will be sold to the highest bidder.

Used by South West Lakes Trust as a coarse fishery, the lake remains well stocked with carp, tench and perch. In a recent effort to remove some carp from the water, the largest catch weight an impressive 13 Ibs 12 oz!

However, fishing is by no means the only recreational activity on offer here. Canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, raft building, BBQs and camping on the banks have all been mentioned by interested parties, while others have expressed an interest in the regular wildlife visitors to the site, which include different types of wild waterfowl, kingfishers, water voles and even the occasional otter.

Late spring sees a carpet of bluebells, while the edges of the lake are softened with lilies and irises. At the moment the only building is a small composting toilet, but the more secluded areas around the lake could be cleared to facilitate camping or possibly even the erection of a more substantial artist's studio, (subject to obtaining any necessary consents).

Lying in a sheltered valley surrounded by wooded areas, the lake enjoys a peaceful and secluded position at the end of a footpath/track, yet is conveniently located just 850m from the Finnygook Inn. The popular seaside village of Portwrinkle with its wonderful sea views over Whitsand Bay is just over a mile away, while the centre of Plymouth is only nine miles away via the Torpoint Ferry.

Stags Auctioneer, Andrew Ranson says, “This really is a little gem in a tucked-away position, and I am surprised that it hasn’t generated more interest already. We are seeing an increasing number of disgruntled savers turning to investments like this that they can also enjoy. Given the realistic guide price, it may be that somebody gets a real bargain!”

Stags will be offering the property by auction at the Whitsand Bay Hotel, Portwrinkle,PL11 3BU at 6.00 pm on 8th August, guided at £35,000 to £50,000. Find more information here
