Keep up to date with the latest Stags news

Sally Blowey BSc (Hons) MRICS FAAV, associate, chartered surveyor and RICS registered valuer, reports good news from Parliament yesterday for those left disappointed by the sudden closure of the Sustainable Farming Incentive SFI 2024 scheme on 11th March 2025;
In a statement made by Daniel Zeichner on 12th May, those who had a draft SFI 2024 application when the scheme closed to applications on 11th March 2025 will now be allowed to complete their application after NFU lobbying which highlighted that applicants were shown a message when saving their draft application which said that they would be given 6 weeks notice prior to the scheme closing.
There will be a limit of £9,300 per year of options imposed (the median average agreement value of existing agreements) and only 1 application may be submitted per farm business.
These rules will help to reduce the effect of these additional applications to the scheme on the DEFRA budget with around 3000 applications being affected.
DEFRA will email those affected in due course giving them 6 weeks to continue and submit their application. Stags will be reaching out to all affected clients, but if you have a draft application and want help completing your application please contact your local professional services department
