Dispersal sale produces excellent results

Dispersal sale produces excellent results

On Wednesday 13th September the Stags On-Site Sales team travelled to Berry Farm, Berry Pomeroy, Totnes to disperse a full range of vehicles, farm machinery and equipment on behalf of Mrs G N Nicholls. The Nicholls family has farmed at Berry Farm for many years but, following the tragic death of Mr Reg Nicholls, has with the help of Stags Professional Department held successful negotiations to relinquish the farm tenancy. The machinery was well looked after and was excellently presented by daughter Lucy Nicholls.

The sale attracted vast interest with more than 400 purchasers registering on the day and many more in attendance, together with an inundation of enquiries in the weeks prior to the sale. Advertising in national and regional newspapers and magazines, coupled with social media coverage and extensive mail outs ensured that purchasers across the country were aware of the dispersal and as a result bidding was fierce throughout.

Top price on the day was achieved for the Massey Ferguson 6480 Dyna 6 4WD Tractor (1747 Hours) selling for £46,000 to a farmer from Penpillick, Cornwall. The second highest price was for the 2005 New Holland CS540 Combine c/w 17ft Header and Transport Trailer & 17ft Cheval Rape Knife which was sold for £36,000. The versatile 2013 Manitou MLT 634-120PS Premium Maniscopic Materials Handler sold for a strong price of £30,750. Further Tractors sold to £20,000 for the 2008 Massey Ferguson 5460 Dyna 4 4wd Tractor (4600 Hrs), £18,900 for a tractor of the same specification but instead a 2006 registered machine with 4533 Hrs on the clock. The Case Maxxum MXU 115 4wd with 5800Hrs achieved £17,000 while the two Massey Ferguson 390Ts sold well with the older of the two (1990) with loader reaching £9,400, while the newer of the two (1995) sold for £10,200.

From the rows of well-presented machinery, implements and equipment notable prices included £8,400 for the Kverneland 4 Furrow Reversible Plough, £7,400 for the Castor + 30R Straw Chopper, £5,700 for the out of season Krone KW 6.72 Six Star Turner and £5,200 for the Kverneland 3228 Mower Conditioner.

Granite troughs also received a lot of interest prior to the sale with one exceeding expectations by selling for £2,800 and the seven granite troughs selling for a combined sum of £8,480.
