On Friday 10th May, bidding opened for the complete dispersal sale of engineering & metal working equipment, trailers, mechanics garage & shop equipment, workshop equipment & power tools, grain drying and general equipment on behalf of the Twissell Family at Brookethorpe Engineering, Stroud.
The Agricultural sales team had spent a number of days in the weeks before the start of the sale preparing the site and the items for sale which was another big task due to the nature of the items being offered as the sheer amount of lots available having accumulated over the course of several years being in business.
Once the site was ready and prepared, a total of 1266 lots were to be offered. A viewing day was held during the sale on the 17th May where several prospective purchasers had the opportunity to inspect any items they were interested in purchasing; the closing date of the sale was the 20th May with the first lots closing at 7pm.
All in all, there was a large amount of interest in this particular sale with 59,908 visits to the online sale catalogue, 306 registered bidders, 78 of which were successful with a total of £33,516 (not all successful). Buyers came from a broad range of areas including Hereford, Leicester, Reading, Chelmsford, Oxford, Ipswich, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset.
Top prices went to an Ifor Williams twin axle flatbed trailer which closed at £1500, a TI Bradbury MK2 4 poster ramp at £750, another Ifor Williams Trailer was offered, this time a 10’ X 6’ flatbed trailer which achieved a total of £600. A large quantity of galvanised grain equipment also saw £600 at the close of the sale along with a welder/compressor and generator achieving the same figure.
Next up was a homemade hydraulic metal working press which saw £460, followed by a Myford ML7 metal working lathe at £460, closely followed by approximately 18 corrugated tin sheets at £440 and a Lawson Products workshop storage chest and a metal workshop bench complete with a big vice both reaching £400 each.
The delivery days post auction was held on Friday 17th May and Monday 20th May where team members were available to help assist successful bidders find and load items, particularly heavier items that required a tele-handler to load for them. Due to the logistics of the site, the majority of purchasers made appointments to collect in order to help keep things moving and give staff members time to help load, in particular for those buyers who had bought multiple items and who needed extra time.
The sale was another great success for the Agricultural Sales Team and this was another sale that was under a different category to what we are generally know for as well as being outside of our general working areas throughout the South West. Our thanks go to Mrs Twissell and family for giving us the opportunity to sell the items that have been part of a long-standing family business.
