Another very wet run up to a popular farm sale did not detract buyers from attending the dispersal of farm machinery on behalf of Messrs KR & FM Hawkins at Barton Farm, Aylesbeare. Vendor Robert Hawkins has relinquished his farm tenancy and moving to Ottery St Mary, having lived at the farm all of his life! Stags Auctioneers were honoured to be asked to conduct the dispersal sale and report better than expected prices for most of the machinery on offer.
Topping the day was £16,000 for the Massey Ferguson 4245 Tractor c/w MF 896 loader which had received interest from many farmers. There were 4 Massey Ferguson tractors on offer with £8800 for the Massey Ferguson 6265; £6000 for the Massey Ferguson 275 c/w Quicke loader and £2800 for the 1968 Massey Ferguson 135.
Other notable prices included £4500 for the 2014 Portequip 22ft Bale Trailer; £3400 for the Marshall 10 Tonne Grain Trailer; £2600 for the Toyota 2.4 TD Pick Up; £2350 twice; the first to the 2011 Opico 6m Grass Harrows and the second to the 2016 Ifor Williams 12ft Livestock Trailer.
The drying sale day itself ensured everyone got in and out the sale field safely and not making conditions to bad in the end.
