The Stags On Site and Online Sales team take a moment to reflect on what has been the department’s busiest year for machinery and equipment sales in the company’s long history.
At the turn of the year, Stags’ database of buyers boasted 10,711 registered bidders, with registrants from across the United Kingdom, Northern and Southern Ireland and some European countries also now being represented. 2022 saw over £6,800,000 worth of assets sold, made up of over 15,000 Lots and including 31 dispersal sales from across the South West. The highest value single lot sold was a 2018 New Holland FR650 Forage Cruiser self-propelled Forager Harvester achieving £112,250, which was part of a full dispersal of high quality and high value machinery. The highest grossing sale conducted was an auction of poultry, including over 125,000 pheasant and partridge chicks and poults, auctioned to national buyers to great effect, raising over £1,000,000 for the vendor.
Amongst the hundreds of tractors and machines sold in 2022, the Stags team were also involved in some more unusual sales, including the dispersal of a Wedding venue, butcher’s shop, mechanic’s garage, piggery equipment and dispersals of woodworking equipment. In all, 31 dispersals were carried out, with a wide variety of items sold from vendors across Devon, Dorset, Cornwall, Somerset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and beyond. Our largest ‘South West Timed’ sale attracted over 289 vendors and over 1600 Lots, resulting in 592 purchasers from across the United Kingdom, Ireland and France.

There are various options available. Traditional Public Auction allows a quick and concise sale of goods to the highest bidder on the day. Webcast Auction mirrors the traditional format, but with the addition of live online bidding providing wider access and pushing prices higher. The Online Timed Auction is an online bidding-only format which allows a methodical approach with scheduled viewing and collection days giving access to buyers across the country.
