Stags have conducted five on farm standing straw sales this summer with a total of 1295 acres being sold and 100% clearance being achieved at all sales. The five sales were held at Bremridge Farm, Crediton; Affeton Farm, East Worlington; Salston Farm, Sidbury; Uggaton Farm, Broadhembury and West Ashford Farm, Barnstaple. All five sales were well attended with averages well above all other collective sales in the area. There appears to be a large benefit to holding a sale on the farm where potential purchasers can see the crops in the lead up to the sale.
As expected trade did not match last years high prices following the mild winter but on the whole were better than each vendor expected. With such a cross section of sales across North, Mid and East Devon the averages were fairly relative. Overall averages were:
