Approaching Plymouth on the A38, take the A374 towards the City Centre and in about 1.5 miles turn left onto the A379 Kingsbridge road. Proceed to the first roundabout (by the Morrisons store) and turn right as signposted to Mount Batten. Continue to follow the signs to Mount Batten until the village of Hooe. At a mini-roundabout at Hooe Lake turn right into Barton Road following the edge of the lake and taking in the views across the estuary. Passing through the gates of the former Royal Marine base, which now houses the prestigious Princess luxury yacht business, the road continues into Turnchapel past the ever popular Boringdon Arms.
