Advising the West Country for 150 Years: The Stags Team

Stags turns 150 this year and it stands to reason that we would not be where we are without our wonderful and hard-working teams. With more than 180 employees based all over the West Country from Bridport to Truro, each one an expert in their field, we are proud to be able to deliver our clients an excellent service across the board.

Whether you’re buying, selling, renting or letting, or are seeking professional, commercial or agricultural advice, we will handpick right person or people to deal with your unique set of circumstances. Many of our workforce have grown up in the West Country and are therefore masters of their local areas, while others have joined us from further afield, bringing outside experience to their roles, and we value the diversity this brings to our teams. Below we hear from five members of staff about their experience of working for Stags:

Jessica Attrill, Architectural Technician“Since relocating from the Isle of Wight and joining Stags, I have worked on a variety of projects across the West Country, from agricultural to residential developments. Not only has my move brought me strong working relationships with my new colleagues but I have also been able to embrace my love of the countryside!”

Jasper Van Der Zalm, Barnstaple, Associate Partner and Lettings Manager
“After several years spent working in the hospitality industry, I desire for a lifestyle change brought me to the world of property. I joined Stags three years ago and have in that time seen the department expand both its workforce and portfolio. Its success is down to its fantastic team, and I look forward to the bright future ahead.”

Claire Cressy, Wellington Associate Partner and Office and Sales Manager“I joined Stags back in 2007 and have in that time built strong relationships with colleagues and vendors alike. Raised on my family farm in Devon, I have an in-depth understanding of the local area which, paired with my experience from my previous roles with agencies across the south of England, has allowed me to develop my career and progress to my current role.”

AJ Kerr, Marketing Assistant, Central Services

“I grew up on the east coast of Canada, but moved to England for University. After obtaining an MSc Business Management at the Royal Agricultural University in Gloucestershire, the move to the West Country was an easy decision. The blend of coastal and rural landscapes has similarities to where I grew up, with the benefit of a wonderful career with amazing people.”

Ed Thorne, Associate Partner and Head Of Holiday Complexes“My time at Stags has been exciting and varied, aided by excellent teamwork and some great social and sporting events within the firm. My role sees me visiting unique properties from Dorset to Cornwall, supporting clients through a maze of legislation and sale procedures. Brought up in Devon, I have spent time as an agricultural student working in Somerset, Cornwall, West Sussex and Australia before returning to my roots and I feel so fortunate to live in this wonderful county that has a bit of everything.”

As part of our celebrations during this special year, the teams of each of Stags’ offices will be raising money for four local charities to support cancer patients and their families: Ducks & Drakes in Dorset, SURE in Somerset, FORCE in Devon and the Tanya’s Courage Trust in Cornwall. The action-packed line up of events includes a demanding 420-mile cycle ride between each of our office locations and a ‘Great Stags Bake Off’ – wish us luck!
