Stags Professional Services have now begun registering clients on the new Rural Payments online system and can share their experience of the process.
“In order to register, all claimants must go through an identity check process for which an online system has been made available from the RPA - however this is proving difficult to use” says Jenny Towill of Stags, Wellington office. Stags advise that an alternative telephone option is available for registration, but certain information will be required to hand and it is advisable to get this process underway early.
Once registered, applicants can check their maps and field parcels are correct, and it is particularly important to consider the Greening obligations that will need to be undertaken in 2015.
“Stags are pleased to advise on this, and can calculate and quickly highlight compliance or otherwise with the Greening elements of Crop Diversification or the ‘three crop rule’, and the various elements of Ecological Focus Area” says Matt Brown of Stags Launceston office.
“We can then advise clients on how to implement any changes needed on farm in a way that protects payments and reduces risk, which is imperative considering non-compliance will risk losing 30% of the Basic Payment in 2015” says Matt.
The team at Stags are fully up to speed on the other pressing issues surrounding the 2015 Cap Reform including the overlap of Environmental Stewardship with EFA, or ‘dual use’, double funding for landlords and tenants and the new Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
