Housing Development Opportunities in East Devon

Housing Development Opportunities in East Devon

East Devon District Council are now likely to face speculative planning applications for housing development following the announcement that they are unable to provide sufficient deliverable housing within the District.

In their most recent update on the delivery of housing within East Devon, the Council was forced to acknowledge that it can only demonstrate 4.68 years out of the required five years’ worth of supply.

Where a Council cannot demonstrate the full 5 years of housing land supply, it faces having to allow applications for development within areas not previously allocated for housing, due to the relevant local plan policies being deemed out of date.

With regards to East Devon, this now provides an opportunity for developers and landowners to put forward alternative sites for housing in order to meet this shortfall.

If you have land within the East Devon area which you feel may be appropriate for residential development and would like professional advice on whether this may be suitable, please contact Steve Boundy of Stags Planning and Development department via s.boundy@stags.co.uk or 01392 439046.
