Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF)

Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF)

The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2024 includes 3 grants to help you buy equipment or technology to:

- improve productivity (maximum £50,000)

- manage slurry (maximum £50,000)

- improve animal health and welfare (maximum £25,000)

The FETF supports the purchase of equipment and technology from an approved list available on the gov.uk website. There are over 130 eligible items including 29 new additions. Slurry items include a 6 or 10m dribble bar and umbilical hose reeler. Productivity items include a solar powered water pump, bracken roller, cameras for monitoring the farmyard and assisted steer system to retrofit to older tractors. Animal health and welfare items include automatic footbaths, automatic vaccination gun, electric fencing package and a water bowser with integrated trough.

You can apply for a minimum of £1,000 grant based on a percentage of the anticipated average cost of an item. For many items, this percentage is an increase on previous rounds. For example, for a mobile sheep handling system, the expected average cost is £9,761 with a grant amount of £4,881, equivalent to 50% funding.

You can apply between 6 March and midday on 17 April 2024 for productivity and slurry items whilst the animal health and welfare items application window opened on 20 March and will close at midday on 1 May 2024.

The scheme is competitive and applications will be scored before offers are made. Once a grant offer has been accepted you can proceed with purchasing your items. Grant funded items should be maintained for 5 years from purchase.

Two more application windows for productivity, slurry and animal health and welfare items are expected to open in 2024.
