On Wednesday 6th March the Agricultural Sales team at Stags made the journey to Dungeons Farm, Cullompton which included a full range of farm and livestock equipment, to conduct the full dispersal sale on behalf of Michael and Yvonne Burrows where, after many years of farming, they have now relinquished their tenancy. The sale saw over 400 lots. The continued wet weather, especially on the days before the sale and the sale day itself, the team succeeded in getting everything ready for the sale to commence, along with the help and determination of the vendor.

On the morning of the sale, the weather provided testing times for all involved from staff members to potential buyers attending the sale. 4X4 and tractor access was strongly advised and thankfully most attendees arrived with the afore mentioned, or stayed at home to bid online. The online catalogue, popular as ever, saw a total of 2,828 views as well as in excess of 250 registered bidders. Successful online buyers came from a variety of locations including Hampshire, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Ireland.

The sale was very successful with top prices seen for a 2010 John Deere 6430 Premium 4WD tractor with high hours (10,210) which achieved £30,450, next best was a 2005 New Holland TS110A 4WD tractor which exceeded expectations with the hammer finally dropping at £21,050. A well-kept 2017 John Deere 331 mower conditioner saw multiple bidders drive it’s price up to £8,250 and a 2007 Bobcat 463 skid steer, being sold by Stags for the second time in recent years having been purchased at another dispersal a few years earlier, held its value well realising £6,450. A 2012 Lely Lotus Stabilo 770 tedder saw just shy of the £6000 mark at £5,950. Next highest price was a 2012 McHale 991BC bale wrapper at £5,850 followed by a 2015 Abbey 2000 gallon slurry tanker at £5,650 (another item to be sold by twice by Stags!). Next in line saw a 2008 Lely Rotunde 510 CD rake which achieved £5,100. Lastly a Ford 4610 2WD tractor saw a positive bid of £4,850.

Outside entries from local farms were also welcomed to the sale these entries saw a 2007 14T Bailey silage trailer achieve £6,350.

We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Michael and Yvonne Burrows for their kind instruction and we wish them all the best for their future endeavours in South Devon.

After 2 successful sales in recent weeks, the team now looks forward to the closing of two large timed auctions where over 1700 items are expected to change hands.
