Annual sheep breeding sales resume this autumn

Annual sheep breeding sales resume this autumn As autumn fast approaches the Stags Agricultural Sales team turn their attention to the upcoming annual sheep breeding sales. The first of these was recently held at Bolitho Farm, Liskeard with just over 800 put forward for sale. Trade proved much more buoyant than last year, with averages for the breeding ewes up by £15 per head. The largest sale for breeding ewes is the annual South Molton Sheep Fair where this year just over 3,200 are already catalogued, including two flock dispersals.

After this, Tavistock takes centre stage with the annual show and sale of mule ewe lambs on Wednesday 4 September. Afterwards, on Tuesday 10 September the St Johns Sheep Fair will showcase some 2,000 sheep. The second sale of mule ewe lambs is on Tuesday 24 September, which also hosts a number of other breed sales. The big day at Tavistock is the annual Goose Fair on Tuesday 8 October where an annual entry of 2,500 sheep includes the main breeding ram sale of the year, which showcases 300 rams.

There will also be a further sale at Bolitho Farm on Saturday 28 September, which will also include the annual collective sale of farm machinery, together with a sale at South Molton on Wednesday 18 September. All of our sales are catalogued and available on stags.co.uk in the lead up to each event. A market report is also produced after each sale to keep everyone up to date with current prices.
