The woodland enjoy a lovely peaceful country setting, on the outskirts of Minterne village, approximately midway between Sherborne and Dorchester. It lies within the beautiful Cerne Valley, and within an area designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty.THE WOODLANDS
In total, the woodland extends to about 4.5 acres and having vehicular access from the A352. It is described as amenity woodlands, and is designated under English Nature as being ancient woodland. It is not subject to any public footpaths.
There is a classic mix of mature oak, birch, and ash shelters hazel coppice and a variety of woodland flora.SERVICES

From Dorchester, take the A352 north towards Sherborne and on passing through the hamlet of Lyon's Gate, access to the woodland is on the left, after about 0.6 mile (please see plan for identification).
Park carefully in the lay-by by the double 5-bar gate, walk down the track for about 0.2 miles and take the first left hand track. Trendle woods is found after about 0.1 mile.
