Stags online fodder sales set to return this autumn

Stags online fodder sales set to return this autumn

Following the success of last year, Stags is set to hold more online timed auctions of fodder this autumn and winter.

The first of their kind in the UK, the online events focus on the sale of straw, silage, hay and stock feed priced by the tonne. According to Stags Auctioneer, Harvey Pile, the key to the success of the sales “was their ability to allow farmers and landowners to trade, market and purchase fodder without time or geographical restraints.” In a season when fodder is in tightened supply and purchasers are looking further afield than usual to source their winter feed, we expect this to be an increasingly popular alternative to traditional sales methods.

Once a sale is launched, prospective purchasers have 10 days to make relevant enquiries or visit the fodder in question before placing bids from the comfort of their own homes. This is not only time-efficient, but it also offers the seller flexibility, a wider geographical reach and competitive selling fees.

Stags’ online timed auctions are promoted using a multitude of initiatives from our three livestock markets in Tavistock, Honiton and South Molton to regional and national publications and email and social media campaigns.

The first online timed auction of fodder in 2018 is set to take place from Monday 10 to Monday 17 December. In the meantime, do look out for our next online timed auction of machinery and general equipment, which is scheduled to run from Thursday 29 November to Sunday 9 December.

To make an enquiry about the sales or to enter fodder or machinery, please contact Harvey Pile or submit a completed entry form, which can be found at the bottom of this page.
