Stags On Site Sales team travelled to Rhode Farm, Bradninch for a unique sale of Bygone Farm Machinery and Vintage Tractors on behalf of Mrs S Hammett on Saturday 8th August. The Sale consisted of a lifetime collection including 13 Vintage Tractors and numerous bygone implements amounting to 696 Lots. With views of the Exe Estuary and the Sidmouth ‘gap’, a bright sunny day only complimented the setting of the sale field.
The unique collection drew interest from as far afield as Glasgow, and with a crowd of well over 350 tractor enthusiasts and collectors the prices were reflected by the keen interest shown. The MF415 Combine Harvester was the first of the vehicles to go under the hammer and was sold for a strong price of £1,000. Auctioneer Stafford Sampson proceeded to sell the 1973 Massey Ferguson 148 for £4,100 and a 1960s Massey Ferguson 165 for £3,000. The only tractor offered with a loader was the 1960s Massey Ferguson 35X achieving £3,500 on the day. Next up were the four Massey Ferguson T20’s with the highest price being achieved was £1,000 for the Massey Ferguson T20 4cyl diesel.
Other notable prices included £280 for an ornate Horse Drawn Plough and the Massey Ferguson rear discharge spreader although it had seen better days achieved £400, out of the selection of potato riddlers the best example reached £170.
The sale also included a good number of outside entries which included a Ford 3,000 which achieved £3,000 and a Massey Ferguson 135 and 550 selling well to prices of £2,900 and £3,000 respectively.
