Seven things to do in the West Country this Easter

Get out and about in the West Country this Easter break with these top events for families.

1. Egg Fest 2018, Lifton Farm Shop, Devon

Head to Lifton Farm Shop from Thursday March 29 to Thursday April 5 to experience a woodland extravaganza. Take part in the magical Easter egg hunt, enjoy tractor and trailer rides through the woods and get creative during a crafty workshop. 2. Easter Fair at South Devon Railway, Buckfastleigh, Devon

Steam engine fanatics shouldn't miss this exciting display of vintage vehicles at Buckfastleigh taking place from Friday March 30 to Monday April 2. There will be five engines in operation over the weekend, with three steam and one diesel locomotive on each day. At Buckfastleigh, there will also be an Easter egg hunt on all four days! 3. Easter fun at Pennywell Farm, Buckfastleigh, Devon

Meet the spring chicks, ducklings, rabbits and goat kids, bottle feed the lambs and enjoy a cuddle with the piglets at Pennywell Farm this Easter. On Good Friday, Devon author Alison May will be launching her new children's book at the farm and will be signing copies in Noah's Barn from 10am-5pm. With two entertainment shows, miniature pig racing, working dog and bird of prey displays and an array of Easter games, there is something for everyone this weekend.

 

4. Explosive Easter at Flambards, Helston, Cornwall

Head to Cornwall's theme park for fizz-tastic fun as a team of mad scientists set up their laboratory for the week. Enjoy shows at 1pm and 3pm each day and be amazed by experiments galore including gunge making workshops and dry ice. Book online for the best prices. 

 

5. St Endellion Easter Festival, Port Isaac, Cornwall

Taking place from Saturday March 31 to Sunday April 8, the St Endellion Easter Festival presents nine concerts of classical music. Taking place in the intimate setting of St Endellion Church, this is a musical experience not to be missed with speciality performances from the Bach Passions among others.

 

6. Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Dunster Castle, Minehead, Somerset

Follow the story of Julian, Walter, Penelope and their dog Boggles as they track down the scoundrels that have run off with the castle's artwork. There will be lashings of ginger beer and jam sandwiches and of course a Cadbury chocolate prize once you have solved the mystery!

7. Easter Extravaganza at Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre, Taunton, Somerset

With an eclectic range of local handmade crafts and foodie stalls along with a fantastic drop-in willow workshop for the whole family to get involved with, this Saturday March 31 is a great day to visit the wetlands centre. There will be an Easter willow sculpture trail with a prize for everyone taking part together with a huge range of baskets, furniture, accessories and sculptures to tempt you on your way out.
