On Site Sales 2015 Autumn Report

On Site Sales 2015 Autumn Report

Stags On Site Sales team have again been busy this Autumn with trade for second hand farm machinery still strong, despite the very disappointing stock, milk and cereal prices producers are receiving. The ‘gloom’ over commodity prices appears set for a while for all sectors with little light at the end of tunnel. Reports from main dealers are that sales of new machinery are very slow, with farmers who are looking to update or add machinery looking more to the second hand market.

The most significant recent machinery sale was held at Elbury Farm, Broadclyst near Exeter on behalf of Messrs Kittow. This highly anticipated sale received a vast amount of interest from across the country with a unique opportunity for prospective purchasers to buy modern and well-kept equipment. The sale consisted of 9 Tractors, Materials Handler and a vast range of modern grassland / tillage machinery and effects. Top price was £34,000 for the 2013 McCormick MC 130 T3 4WD tractor with front pto and linkage, c/w MXU 10 P/op F/E Loader, closely followed at £32,000 for the 2013 JCB 526-56 Loadall Materials Handler.

It was ‘times gone by’ the week before when Stags conducted the sale of 13 Vintage Tractors and Bygone Farm Machinery at Rhode Farm, Bradninch on behalf of Mrs S Hammett. The unique collection drew interest from as far afield as Glasgow, and with a crowd of well over 350 tractor enthusiasts and collectors the prices were reflected by the keen interest shown. Topping the sale at £4,100 was the 1973 Massey Ferguson 148 Tractor with many of the other Vintage Massey Ferguson Tractors sold between £2,500 and £3,500.

Other notable dispersals included Silverton Park Farm, Silverton for Jerry and Sarah Alford where prices topped at £19,000 for the 2010 Massey Ferguson 5455 Dyna 4 4WD Tractor c/w MF 945 Loader, and at Court Barton Farm, Venny Tedburn for Michael and Richard Aldworth, a 2007 John Deere 6630 premium tractor topped £16,500. At another sale at Higher Combe Farm, Bradninch for Peter Morrish (who is retiring), prices topped £8,500 for the 1993 Massey Ferguson 3085 Autotronic Tractor c/w Quicke Loader.

Collective Sales

Our Collective sales have been busier than ever helped by the inclusion of genuine dispersals. Honiton Showground attracted a massive crowd with the offering of just over 1200 lots including a dispersal of very well maintained Sheep Equipment for Messrs Varker, Whitestone, Exeter which topped at £2,400 for a Compact 5 Sheep Handling Unit & Race. Uplowman Court, Tiverton again attracted just over 1200 lots and included a dispersal from Mr and Mrs Waller, Uffculme and a garage dispersal sale of Automobilia. Top price of the day was £16,200 for a 2000 Massey Ferguson 6280 Power Control Tractor. Stags also added a new Collective sale venue at Mowes Lane, Marnhull, Dorset which was well received and prices topped at £3,400 for a 2011 Polaris Ranger 500EFI Crew Cab RTV.
