The sun shone after a very wet period of weather on Saturday 29th August at Stags annual Autumn Collective sale at Honiton Showground. The sale site stood up to the test of the recent wet conditions well helped by the many hard tracks around the site allowing the unloading and loading of lots without turning the grass into mud. The car park area soon filled up with over 300 people registering to purchase on the day many of whom were having their first visit to the saleground. Just over 1200 very varied lots were on offer when the sale started at 10.30am.
The sale included a dispersal of very well maintained Sheep Equipment removed to the saleground for convenience from Messrs Varker, Whitestone, Exeter. The Sheep Equipment drew a huge amount of interest and as a result sold extremely well, topping at £2,400 for a Compact 5 Sheep Handling Unit & Race. Other prices included £1,500 for the Ritchie Combi Clamp and Ramp; £420 for the Sheep Weigh Crate; £120 each for Pivot Feeder/Barriers and £120 each for the Slide Gate Hurdles.
In the Machinery lines trade was more buoyant for the older machines but the newer bigger machines were more difficult to sell. Notable prices sold on the day were £2,200 for a Browns Grass Harrows; £2,200 for a Maschio Power Harrow; £2,100 for an 8ft Albutt Buckrake; and £1,650 for a Lucas Castor 60R Straw Chopper.
There was a decent trade throughout the day for the smaller lots which include £300 for a Cart; £260 for a Hyundai Multi Tool; £400 for a McConnell Sawbench and a good range of Ride On Lawnmowers sold to £600.
