Prominent South West auctioneers, Stags, have recorded a 60% increase in the number of properties they have sold by auction across Cornwall and along the Devon borders. Auctioneer, Andrew Ranson, says “We are delighted with this result at a time when nationally, the number of lots sold is down by 0.5% and across the South West for the last quarter; the number of lots offered is down 11.6% (according to independent industry analysts, EIG)”.
Mr Ranson continues, “Some of the year’s highlights included our first collective auction at Lakeside, Roadford Lake, near Broadwoodwidger. This is a fantastic auction venue, and with the glorious views out over the reservoir on a balmy August evening, we offered 7 lots, which included 388 acres of land near Mary Tavy to a full room. This was also the first auction sale that Stags have sold land for South West Water.”
Another highlight of the year was a collective auction on 3rd October 2016 at The Lanhydrock Golf and Country Club, where 8 lots were offered to a jam packed room of probably over 200 people! There was something for everyone in this auction, from amenity size parcels of land to cottages to renovate, a building plot and an agricultural sized block of land near St Clether.
Across the whole of the South West, Stags have maintained a success rate of over 90% which is approximately 15% above the industry average.
