Farmers turned up in numbers despite their finally being a settled period of sunny weather to see the dispersal of farm machinery for Jerry and Sarah Alford at Silverton Park Farm, Silverton, Exeter. Having sold the farm Jerry and his family are retiring from farming and moving down the road to Pinhoe. Just under 400 lots were on offer when the sale commenced at 11.30am.
Topping the lots at £19,000 was a 2010 Massey Ferguson 5455 Dyna 4 4WD Tractor c/w MF 945 Loader selling to a local Tiverton farmer. The other vehicles saw the 2006 John Deere 3215 Telescopic Handler realise £8,000; the 2002 Land Rover TD5 sell to £3,100; £2,400 for Kubota Mini Digger (not running) and the 2008 Honda 420 Quad Bike make £1,800.
The farm machinery lots met great interest topping at £4,800 for a 12 Tonne Marshall Grain Trailer. Other notable machinery prices were £3,700 for a McConnel PA93 Flail Hedgetrimmer; £3,200 for the Twose Triple Folding Breaker Rollers; £2,100 for West 1600 Dual FYM Spreader; and £1,600 for 6m Einbock Grass Harrows.
Other lots that sold well were the Logic Finishing Mower at £1,000; the Hakki Pilke PTO Sawbench at £920; the Mailleux Root Feeder Bucket at £1,100 and the Nugent Quad Trailer at £540.
There was a good amount of introduced lots which sold to £4,500 for a Claas Quadrant 1100 Square Baler; and included £1,050 for a 2013 Heavy Duty Grab and £900 for a Twose 275 Pasture Topper.
